Declamation

Declamation is an extracurricular activity focusing on public speaking skills. Students are selected to work on a piece from one of six categories --Dramatic Interpretation, Comedy Duet (Humorous Duet Acting), Comedic Interpretation (Humorous Interpretation), Prose Reading, Poetry Reading, and Oration. Students work on developing performance skills with the coaches and their peers as well as practicing on their own.

Seven participants will be chosen to compete in the SWIC Declamations Competition - one person from each of the five individual categories and one pair from the duet category.

Declamation runs from January to mid-March. An informational meeting will be held just before or after winter break. Meetings and coaching sessions are generally Mondays and Fridays.
